Your visit begins with a brief conversation about your health. We’ll review:

• Medical conditions and medications
• Screen your blood pressure
• Dental history and past treatments
• Any concerns, such as bleeding gums, sensitivity, or bad breath
• Your current home care routine

This ensures your care is personalized, safe, and tailored to your needs.

Before cleaning, we will carefully assess your oral health (including a head and neck exam). This includes:

• Head and neck exam to assess lymph nodes, thyroid, and glands for abnormalities
• Checking teeth, including any fillings, implants, and crowns, for concerns
• Assess periodontal health, which includes the gums and bone levels
• Evaluating plaque and tartar buildup above and below the gums
• Performing an oral cancer screening
• Salivary bacteria testing—to determine the levels of oral pathogens (if needed)

These assessment findings allow us to determine a diagnosis of your current oral health condition, make a curated plan that is specific to your oral health needs, and recommend appropriate care based on those findings.

This is the core of your hygiene appointment.

We gently remove plaque, stain(s), and hardened tartar (calculus) from above and below the gumline using advanced technology, specifically Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT). It provides a pain-free appointment, including no pain post-cleaning when you leave. We start with the most non-invasive approach to achieve favourable outcomes that are comfortable and pain-free well after you leave the office.

Based on your assessment findings, a curated plan will be discussed and offered to you. Services available at the clinic are:

• Teeth whitening using a certified organic product

• Desensitizing for tooth surfaces with sensitivity to temperature and touch

• Pain management if needed during “cleanings” with the use of topical gels, sound therapy, TV in treatment rooms, etc.

• Remineralization treatment (non-Fluoride option available)

• Temporary fillings (IST)

As part of your treatment, we provide tailored recommendations to support your home care, including:

• Proper brushing technique and the type of toothbrush that is ideal for you
• Interdental cleaning options
• Dental products such as toothpastes
• Antibacterial rinse that supports the oral microbiome (killing the bad, keeping the good)
• Tips for managing gum health

Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and tools to maintain a healthy smile between visits.

• Routine visit: 45–90 minutes
• First-time or overdue visits: may take longer
• Periodontal therapy: may require multiple appointments

Your oral health is our priority. While Oral and Overall Health provides comprehensive preventive and therapeutic care, some conditions require treatment from a dental or medical specialist.

If additional care is needed, we’ll connect you with trusted professionals to ensure you receive the right treatment quickly and comfortably.

When a Referral May Be Recommended

We may recommend a referral if you:

• Need restorative treatment, such as suspicious lesions on teeth
• Show signs of advanced gum disease
• Require further evaluation after an oral cancer screening
• Have complex dental or medical conditions affecting your oral health
• Need specialized care such as orthodontic or airway assessments
